Bringing mathematics into dialogue with other disciplines
to innovate for life, environment and society.
Meeting today’s challenges calls for a new multidisciplinary and innovative scientific strategy, in which mathematics has an essential role to play..
We are faced with phenomena that are increasingly difficult to understand, anticipate and control, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, epidemic management and public health challenges. The need for modeling, simulation and data processing is therefore growing all the time.
The Mathematics in interactions research program (Maths-Vives PEPR) aims to encourage and structure interactions between mathematics and other sciences around topical issues.
The program is divided into three research themes: life, environment and society, addressed by ten multi-disciplinary projects targeted in the initial phase. With a budget of €50 million over 10 years, the program is part of the France 2030 investment plan. The French government has entrusted the CNRS with the scientific management of the program, which is operated by the French National Research Agency (ANR).
